40 Activities In the Georgian Triangle | Embracing a Canadian Summer in the Georgian Triangle
Published on September 12th, 2017

Celebrating Canada 150 has been a blast. It’s great to see how much everyone is truly embracing their local and national landscapes. We’re holding on to the last few weeks of Summer by re-living your entries from our Summer Sweepstakes.

Here are the top ways to embrace your Canadian Summer in the Georgian Triangle

  1. Hit the beach!
  2. Pack a picnic and head to the beach.
  3. Camping.
  4. Enjoy the water – I love to be in it, or just sit with my feet in and read a good book.
  5. Explore the biking paths.
  6. I love to sit on my back deck with a coffee in the morning waiting for it to warm up.
  7. Stand up Paddle Boarding.
  8. Touring the area – wineries, waterfalls, hikes and SUP!
  9. Swim in Georgian Bay.
  10. A day at Wasaga Beach.
  11. Watch the sunsets at the beach.
  12. Take a trip to a waterfall.
  13. Explore on a canoe, fish and listen to the sound of nature, leaving the city behind me.
  14. We invited our European friends to celebrate Canada 150 with it and see all that our country and community has to offer.
  15. A round of golf on a beautiful course.
  16. My favourite, and new way, to celebrate my Canadian Summer in the Georgian Triangle is to blow up my water tube and drift down the rapids in Beaver River. I love floating past all the people fishing, the wildlife enjoying the water, and soaking in some sunshine all at the same time!!!
  17. The Pier and pom poms.
  18. Hike in the woods.
  19. Go for a scenic road ride, finish with a Creemore on a patio with a great view.
  20. A swim in the lake at Sunset Point.
  21. Paddle Board with my dog in the Bay.
  22. BBQ with the family after a great beach day.
  23. Take the pups for a walk at Sunset Point.
  24. Eat awesome local food. Delicious wine and cider.
  25. Hike and bike the Bruce Trail.
  26. Spend time outdoors exploring both our local region and our beautiful country.
  27. I celebrate by participating in the wonderful community events that occur throughout the Summer – all in an effort to meet people who enjoy the Triangle as I do!
  28. My favourites are: Walking my dog on the Georgian Trail, jumping off the pier in Thornbury, swimming in Slab Town, watching the sunset at Northwinds Beach, strawberry picking at Meesters… the list goes on and on! I love where we live.
  29. Kayak.
  30. I love to celebrate Summer by searching Georgian Bay for those monster fish!
  31. An evening bonfire under the stars
  32. Ziplining at the Scenic Caves and a nice dinner in the Village.
  33. Spend a gorgeous day out on a boat.
  34. Celebrating with my family and friends on the lake, watching the sunrises and sunsets. Just paddling on the Bay and watching the clouds roll by. Sitting by the fire at night watching the stars is a lovely way to celebrate this great country of ours.
  35. Love enjoying the waterscape.
  36. Hike the cascade trail at Blue Mountain.
  37. Beaching in Meaford.
  38. Outdoor dining after a day of mountain biking.
  39. Whether it’s on the water, in the water, on the trailers or in the local shops, I try to be present and be outside as much as possible with my friends and family! These days, it’s so easy to sit head-down and scroll through negativity on our screens, completely disconnecting… However, I think we miss so much in life because of that. For me, it’s so important to get outside, connect with your people, explore and take in the amazing natural beauty we are so fortunate to call home. Affectionately known as The Georgian Triangle!
  40. Take the time to really get to know your community. There are so many great local businesses, beautiful outdoor scenery, and so many activities to take part in.
