Program your home

In the Summer, program your thermostat to cool less while you’re away on vacation, and in the Winter program it to heat less while you’re sleeping or away from home.

Use A Powerbar

The theme here is controlling how much energy is used in your home. A powerbar is a great option, especially if it has a timer. Use a powerbar with a timer or an auto shut-off option to eliminate wasted electricity. Tip: put your lamps on timers so you won’t have to worry about forgetting to turn them off when you go to bed.

Replace your light bulbs with LED bulbs. These high-quality light bulbs last longer than incandescent bulbs.

Turn Your Devices Off

It’s always a good idea to turn your devices off and unwind at the end of a hectic day. Turning your computer off at night can help conserve energy. Many electronic devices, including a PVR, will use energy will on standby. Shut them down to be most efficient with your energy use.

Seal The Fireplace

You have less control over the air temperature and your bills if air is escaping through your fireplace. Ensure it is properly sealed and not letting outside air in. This goes for your windows and doors as well – check for any air leaks. Having control over the air temperature in your home means having more control over your energy consumption and bills.
