Summer is in full swing! The sun is out, the kids are out of school, and the Summer fun is just beginning. The events calendar is jam-packed with fun events and festivals in July. Georgian Triangle Celebrates Canada Day

Canada’s 149th birthday is coming up on Friday. From back yard BBQs, a day at the beach or a family picnic, there are so many ways to spend the day celebrating our country. But our favourite has to be getting together with the rest of the community and ending the day with a spectacular firework display! We Canadians must really love our maple syrup, because there are lots of pancakes breakfasts ready to kick-off the Canada Day parties! Here are the community celebrations taking place on July 1st. Plus, with Earth Day coming up, we’ve included ideas you and your family can celebrate our planet. Events in the Georgian Triangle   Key Dates in April April 1 – April Fools’ Day April 22 – Earth Day   Earth Day: Did You Know? Earth Day was first celebrated in 1970. It is now coordinated on a global scale, but people have been using the day to demonstrate their support for the environment for over 45 years. It hasn’t always taken place on April 22, but the Earth Day Network uses the 22nd to create a global celebration. Over 192 recognize the day and celebrate the Earth every year. The first Earth Day in Canada was in 1980 and included a celebratory tree planting ceremony. You and your family can get involved in many ways. Over $21,000 Raised at Ski Day

A Big Success: Royal LePage Ski Day 2016 After being awarded the 2015 Royal LePage Shelter Foundation Ontario Brokerage of the Year, we are off to a great start with a successful Ski Day to kick off 2016. Locations North is thrilled to announce that this year’s Royal LePage Ski Day raised over $21,000 for Hospice Georgian Triangle and My Friend’s House. This year’s event, hosted at Craigleith Ski Club, saw 14 Royal LePage offices represented on the day. Hospice Georgian Triangle relies on fundraising support to raise 50 per cent of its annual budget. Community events like this one play a major role in providing additional medical, house-hold, comfort and care items, as well as training and support for families. At this year’s Ski Day we were pleased to have Royal LePage CEO, Phil Sopher, in attendance for the first time since Locations North Broker of Record, Desmond von Teichman, took over hosting the event. This was a big attendance draw! It was a fantastic day that included ski racing, a snowshoe scavenger hunt, liquor & cider tastings, a silent auction, raffle, and a superb lunch with dishes supplied by Granview Farms. GBSS Trivia Night

  Grab your most trivia-worthy friends and put a winning team together. Locations North is sponsoring the Georgian Bay Secondary School Trivia Night on Thursday, February 25. Come out from 7:00 – 9:00 and test your knowledge against other teams. Over $30,000 Raised For My Friend’s House

Being in the position to give back to the community is a wonderful gift. The numbers are in and we are pleased to announce that through the 2015 Collingwood Holiday Tour of Homes, over $30,000 were raised for Collingwood’s, My Friend’s House. We can’t wait for next year and to beat our record, benefiting even more women and children served by the incredible organization. Thank you to all who contributed, making My Friend’s House a happy home. “My Friend’s House, on behalf of the women and children we serve, would like to offer up a sincere “thank you” to Royal Lepage Locations North, for their on-going support. The 4th annual Collingwood Holiday Tour of Homes, was held Nov 14th 2015 at Toronto Ski Club, in support of the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation. This premiere event included a vendor marketplace, silent auction, fashion show and 7 beautiful homes decorated by 7 wonderful home decorator/designers.  The proceeds from the silent auction and tickets sales are now hard at work, helping to provide a warm, safe and supportive home for women and their children striving for violence free lives.
